GOD IS ALL THAT MATTERS

God is all that matters by Sir. Alvin Cleofe

And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun. And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king?  even that which hath been already done.. Ecclesiastes 2:10-12

Living is always a matter of priorities. We are always have the questions in what area of our lives are we going to give the most of us. Just on ourselves we can't understand what matters most, sometimes we are being directed by other people instead of the one who knows whats best. In the life of Solomon, we can learn how he understand of what matters most by trying things which might make him complete, but everything he tried in life still he called "vanities of vanities".

  • Pleasure is vain.

Ec.2:3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.

Vices, Untrue friends, Computers and time consuming habits, night life.

At these days we are bombarded by many attracting and yet deceiving concepts in life. When pleasure takes the center of our lives, we would still lack joy, we would still hunger for things. True joy can only be found in God,while this pleasures are just temporal, still making a hole in our  hearts, making us incomplete. And most of the time this pleasures causes us to sin, we should remember that when the place of God are taken by other things we are commiting idolatry. Being happy doesn't mean we need to commit sin.

  • Great works are vain.

Ec.2:4-8 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in  Jerusalem before me:
I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.

Our dreams over God's will; Our plan over God's plan; Our desires over God's purpose.

Sometimes we feel that doing more would make us memorable. But when we face the Lord, He wont ask us about the monuments built for us, buildings that are named before us, or even what our position or our job, our monthly income, or even how many people served us. No! He won't asks us about those things. We are not going to answer God on our own questions. We would give account of the things we did for Him. Still No one can be happier than to obey God's plan. Apostle Paul said "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" 2Tm.4:7 And the greatest achievement still is when God's says to us "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" M't.25:21

  • Our wisdom is vain.

So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. Ec:2-9

Temporal and eternal: earthly and heavenly; material and spiritual; knowledge and wisdom.

What we know is still not what matters most. Even Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived said that it still is vain. What we know about our lives is less more important than what we do with our lives. Let us remember that we are not indespensible, living for God is our privelege.
"The greatest knowledge is to know the will of God: the greatest accomplishment is to obey the will of God; the greatest privelege is to please God."

  • Conclusion

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
